A Letter From Home

A scrapbook page of my great grandparents, Hugh and Adaline Mills. The picture of Adaline reading a letter was taken by her son, Chester. A lot of the Mill's pictures were by him. I like how he would put a title on them. I used Adaline's own signature on this page, I got it from her daughters(my grandmother, Audrey) report card.

Great Great Grandparents

This is Cordelia and Elijah Homan, they are my great great grandparents from my dads side (his mothers side). They were my great grandmother, Adaline's parents.

The Mills Family

I think this is a neat old picture of my Dad's maternal grandparents and his mother and uncle. It was taken on their farm in Kansas.

Fun Old Picture

I have always been fascinated with this old picture of my Grandfather, David Huey. Both men in the the picture are him. He took it himself using a timer on his camera I guess. I've always thought it was a neat picture.

Agnes and Harold Again

This is another picture of Aunt Aggie and Harold. I thought it interesting that Harold is dressed in a little sailor suit and he grew up and joined the Navy. Uncle Harold died when he was only 29 of a burst appendix. He left behind a wife and two young children, a girl and a boy and unborn twins also a girl and a boy. I never knew him. When Aunt Aggie grew up she had a family of three children. She was a registered nurse. I knew her quite well.

This is Agnes and Harold, my mom's oldest sister and brother. These old pictures are the best! I love old vintage pictures.

I'll start with my mom's old family pictures.
these are Mom's two brothers, they were in the service during WW2. Harold was in the Navy and Norman(Jack) in (I think) the Air Force.

The Rocking Horse

Today I'm comparing a picture of me riding my rocking horse with one of Nathanael riding it . The old thing had a different paint job since the one of me was taken and it is in bad need of another one in the picture of Nathanael.

The Panel Truck

Dad and the GMC panel truck.

I have fond memories of this old truck. Dad had his welder in the back of this truck so he could take it to the repairs that the farmers needed on their machinery or whatever. Dad also pulled a trailer with it to haul big machinery to his shop. Sometimes we kids would ride with him. There were no seats but the drivers seat so we all would have to stand up holding on to a bar above our heads or there was room for one on the welder, but you still had to hang on to something or you would fall off and it wasn't too comfortable on ones behind. The old truck had been a fish delivery truck in it's previous life. It was a faded old green when dad got it. We loved to play with the little bell that went "ding dong" by stepping on a button on the floor. One day the truck became another color. Dad and Ronnie had painted it this bright orange with a paint sprayer.

Oh how I'd love to go for a bumpy ride in that old truck today.

Maternal Great Grandparents

Another old picture today. This is my maternal great grandparents Joshua and Mary Jane-Davis Showalter and Mary Jane's brother ?, (standing).

Birthday's

Today is Dad's birthday. He would have been 80. The first picture is him as a boy. He grew up on a farm. The second one I put together of him and his garage. He owned and ran Huey's Garage for over 4o years.

Today is also my friend, Vicky's birthday. We became best friends starting back in 1st and 2nd grades. I was going to post her 1st grade school picture here today but I can't find it. I know I have it somewhere, I have kept it all these years.

Great Grandparent and The Desk Chair

This is an old picture of my great grandparents, Samuel and Mary-Brown Huey. The chair he is sitting in is still in the family, though it is in need of some repairs.

Finishing the Feast 1914

My favorite photos to digital scrap are the old vintage family pictures. This picture is of a gathering of some young women. I don't know what the ocation was, maybe a birthday party.

G-Grandmother, Adaline Mills is in the back row on the right end and Grandmother, Audrey Mills, is the one in the middle, back row. The picture had a title and date written on the front. The title says " Finishing the Feast", the date was 1914

Ben and Orpha Curry

My maternal grandparents Ben and Orpha Curry. This scrapbook page is one I did when I fist started doing digital scraping. The buttons on this page are scans of buttons from Grandma's button tin.
